Stormy Weather

September 21, 2009

We have been very busy eating gorgeous strawberries and hiking through parts of Cinque Terre on the Mediterranean coast. Not only are the strawberries to die for but the seafood is particularly fine and fresh. The octopus is so tender, Michael loved it. I think I might rustle one up when we’re back in Vancouver and cook it up. The first day we were here was super stormy. I think it was some of the rainiest most thunderous weather I have ever witnessed, and that’s saying a lot given that I live in Vancouver. We are almost famous for our rain. There is not a whole lot to do in conditions like that so we put on our shorts and runners and went for a swim run along the coast. It was wet and amazing – water pouring and rushing everywhere. One of the best runs ever! You know those runs? When you feel as though you could just keep going and going? Forrest Gump-ish. One of those runs when you feel entirely justified in eating a big plate of pasta afterwards. And dessert, too.

Double Gorgeous!

Double Gorgeous!

If you happen to still be in Vernazza when reading this … a wonderful place to eat with amazing views is at a restaurant called il Castillo. It’s next to the castle ruins there on the bay. Excellent food food and service. It looks like you are having a great trip and we are looking forward to catching up with you on your return.
